MPC Transforms

In November 2020 the Monterey Peninsula Community College District's (MPCCD) bond measure, Measure V, was approved by local voters to fund $230 million for facility improvements across all three MPC campus locations in Monterey, Seaside, and Marina. Measure V provides the largest district-wide facilities upgrade in the District's 75-year history, and will transform MPC - just as the College transforms the lives of its students. Thanks to the support of our community, MPCCD will be able to finance critical campus facility and technology projects that will benefit tens of thousands of local students over the years, ensuring that MPC remains a vital resource and regional economic engine.

Among other projects, the College plans to significantly expand facilities at the Marina Education Center and develop a first responder training center on the College’s property at the former Fort Ord. Additionally, improvements to the college’s infrastructure will include:

• Repairing aging and deteriorating facilities;

• Improving energy efficiencies so the College can operate in a more environmentally sustainable way;

• Upgrading classrooms and career training facilities; and

• Updating computer and instructional technology.

As with previous bond measures, funds will remain locally controlled with accountability protections in place, including an independent citizens’ oversight committee and annual audits.
